Week 7- Podcasting” and “Online Hosted Video”

I wish I had alot more time to watch YouTube videos. I think the Common Craft videos are very effective. I chose a "Book lovers" video from YouTube which interviewed Cheyl Holt, a romance novelist. The background noise is distracting.

Week 6 - Online Photo sharing

I added a photo to the MLA class wiki at http://mlawikiclass.wetpaint.com/photos

I created a photobucket account on Myspace and uploaded photos http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=27400491

I also created a Flickr account mostly for photos for a professional organization I am active in -the url is http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlsealsouth/

Week 5 - Web office tools e.g. Google documents

I have been working with Kathy Kerloff, another participant in this course, on creating and publishing a History of the Medical Informatics Section MLA on Google documents--its published URL is http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgbjwwkb_16dgpccw

I also co author of an article I did with a librarian in another part of the state and we used Google docs and google spreadsheets -example would be http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=ppSNdkEWhUeWjTWCWnZnCKg

I started publishing Minutes of a local professional organization on Google docs, an example would be http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=dgbjwwkb_26gtjc34&hl=en
making corrections on minutes with people you have shared access is an efficient way to improve the minutes.

Week 4 -Social bookmarking Del,icio,us

I have a problem with how the tags cut 2 word phrase into separate tags as in evidence based--perhaps I should try a hypen when I would like to keep 2 words as a phrase?

In an academic environment it is a very useful way of keeping current with colleagues and students with out having to ask personal questions! I also like the ability to post events and get event announcements.
